This memorial was inaugurated on 18th September 2004 nearly 60 years after VE Day. I have traced the names of the crew that were emailed to me and it seems that a Lancaster from 463 Squadron crashed in these woods on the return from a raid on Stuttgart 10th June 1944.

This memorial is situated at Montbronn 75km from Strasburg and 30km from Sarreguemines on route D110F.
