Engine Failed

A408806 S/L John Good and crew posted to 467 Sq February 1943. Tour expired and was posted to 27 OTU 28.7.43. Returned for 2nd tour with 466 Sq September 1944 to April 1945.

12/13.7.43 the crew set out to attack Turin. On the outward flight one engine failed, the crew decided to continue the mission, they were unable to reach sufficient height to cross the alps till all movable gear had been jettisoned. The target was bombed and a excellent photo obtained. On the return flight while over the sea in daylight, the crew observed a Lancaster in distress and despite the danger of fighter attack escorted the damaged bomber back to land in the UK.

John Good and crew also took part in the long and tiring op to bomb Fredrischaven and land at Blida in Algeria, reload and bomb Spezia on the return flight.
