Terence Everard Evans A429220 Gazetted DFC 30.8.45. Evans and crew posted to 467 Sq 3.10.44. Completed 25 ops to 8.5.45. Posted to 466 Sq 10.5.45.

1.11.44 in the attack on Homberg PB306PO.J was hit by heavy flak. The bomb doors, MU turret and Pilots cabin were damaged, but they carried out the attack and returned home.

17/18.12.44 whilst attacking Munich they had an engine on fire and couldn’t extinguish it or feather it due to damage. Another A/C collided with them and sheared off part of a wing, they managed to jettison the bombs but held the incendiaries and nursed the damaged A/C back to Chalon Sur Marne where it became uncontrollable and they had to bale out. The pilot became caught in the hatch but pulled his ripcord and the chute pulled him clear. He was injured in the landing, and returned to ops in February 45.
