P/O Staples.S.J and crew were on their first op in Nobby Blundell’s LM223 JO.P. This was the JO.P which had been badly damaged 5 times by enemy action and repaired and returned to operations. Other crews reported seeing LM223 JO.P and LM309 JO.V collide over the target, at least 3 men were killed in JO.V and all 7 in JO.P. |
