Missing.

F/L Mortimer.R.J. Was posted to 463 on formation 25.11.43. The crew were operational in another Sq but Orbs fail to list the Sq. F/L Mortimer took over the command of A flight 463 after Harry Lock.

2/3.1.44. F/S James was 2nd pilot to Berlin with F/L Mortimer and LL740 JO.M was attacked by a fighter and badly damaged, but the gunners managed to damage the enemy A/C and he broke off the combat. The pilot and crew had a very cold return trip, the air screaming through the damaged A/C was freezing.

25.2.44. They were shot down on their mission to Schweinfurt and F/L Mortimer managed to hold the damaged A/C till the other 6 members of the crew had bailed out but was to late to get out himself. After interrogation by the Germans P/O Young was shot and although the circumstances regarding the shooting are confused the other crew members report that he was shot after interrogation.
