F/L Joe Foster and crew flew most of their ops in DV229 JO.P. An A/C with more than 540 hours flying some of it in the middle east. It was always very slow and required endless maintenance, finally shot down by the ROYAL NAVY crossing the channel in the attack on Orleans 10/11.6.44 in what was termed friendly gunfire by P/O Fletcher. |
They took part in the attack on Nuremberg 30/31.3.44 in Harry Eastgate's old DV280 JO.S an A/C with over 100 ops it was also very slow and they were in difficulties all the way. |
They were one of the first crews to complete a tour of ops in 463 Sq. |
