Each Squadron kept complete ORBs (Operational Record Books),
although not always accurate, they served as a written document similar
to a diary. These records were maintained by the Adjutant for each squadron
and signed off by the Squadron Commander of the time.
These records show the comments and notes by the Adjutant and the Squadron
Commander. They also show the targets, dates, losses, crews, bomb-loads,
and the de-briefing comments by the pilots.
Each page of the ORBs has been photographed digitally and converted to
a JPEG image. There are 1866 pages of ORBS in total.
A large part of this site has been developed from the
ORBs so many inaccuracies have occured. These are slowly being rectified
by constant cross checking, re-referencing, and by readers passing on
information about their relatives or their connections with the Squadrons.
